The ‘Hidden Past’ route leads you past the most interesting historical sites in Noordwijkerhout and De Zilk.

Cycle over 27 km through the past. Along the way, you will encounter 20 information panels that bring the vanished past completely back to life.

Noordwijkerhout and De Zilk have a rich history. Remains of habitation have been found dating back to the Bronze Age. Over the centuries, the area has developed, with income from agricultural labor being the most common source. The landscape was very attractive for noble families to own country estates or farmhouses. Remnants of these can be found in the region’s landscape, some more visible than others. This vanished heritage often lives on in street names, residential areas, and sports clubs. To keep the memory alive, a route has been created past all the places where, centuries ago, other people lived in other houses and with different customs.
